What is Driver CPC ?
Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) has been introduced across the European Union to maintain high driving standards and improve road safety. All professional bus, coach and lorry drivers must hold a Driver CPC if they want to drive for a living (there are a few exempt groups).
How does it affect me?
As a new driver, you will need to pass the Driver CPC theory and practical tests in addition to the licence acquisition theory and practical tests if you intend to drive professionally. Once you have passed these tests you will also need to undergo ongoing periodic training to keep your Driver CPC qualification.

Existing Drivers
If you are already a driver in the industry and have a DQC, you will not need to complete the CPC Initial (Unless you are now training to become a PCV driver), however you will still need to keep up with 35 hours of Periodic CPC every 5 years.

Module 2
The CPC Module 2 is a theory test based on case studies. You will need to complete this in addition to the normal theory multiple choice that is needed before you can move onto the practical training.
Module 4
The CPC Module 4 is a short practical demonstration. It is also known as a “show me tell me” demonstration. You will need to complete this in addition to the driving course.
Can I take the tests in any order?
In short, no. You must pass the CPC Module 2 before you can take the CPC Module 4. In other words, you need to pass your theory before doing the practical element. You can however complete your CPC course before, after, or during your driving course.
